Full Description

The recreation ground or 'camping close' as it was known in the rentals was sited next to the archery butts. It was open communal ground used for recreational purposes. It is possible that the annual fair on St Thomas' Day was also held here (fair-grant 1383). Rented in 1617-40 to the Grammar School, then passed into private ownership. <1>
