Full Description

The site comprises a line of posts photographed from the air in the spring of 1993. In the slide they appear to be some distance out from the shore. However, Mr Hawkings of the Billericay Archaeological Society thinks that they extend almost from the shoreline, being intermittantly covered by shifting deposits. The line may be a fish-trap. Apparently nets strung from lines of posts at right angles to the shore would catch migrating mullet, which swam along the edge of the coast.
