Full Description

Graveyard of All Saints Church, High Street, Colchester.

Small graveyard, well kept, contains a number of unexceptional monuments. Graveyard has been encroached upon, particularly by the widening of the High Street. The geographical situation suggests that the churchyard was in existence before the High Street was deflected southwards by the building of the castle bailey earthworks c.1075. It may be, therefore, Anglo-Saxon in origin.<1>
