Full Description

The Marlborough Inn was used as the site of the Overhall manor leeet-court, when it was moved from the Pincel lane manor-house. The oldest part of the present building dates to c.1500. To the rear of the house is a structure interpreted as likely to be a 'wool-hall'. There is a local tradition that the market-place/High Street frontage used to be open. By 1660 the building was in private ownership, but in 1704 it was converted into an inn.<1>

A heritage statement was prepared by Nicholas Jacobs Architects in 2020.<2>
