Full Description

Was the parish workhouse. The original building was an ornate and imposing two-storey block, with a date placque of 1725, and was used as the keeper's house and for administrative purposes. An L-shaped building was added after 1730 as a result of a Trust established by W. Freeman ' to lodge, maintain and employ the poor'. The workhouse closed in 1835 and converted to tenements, called 'Whitmore Place'. It is now known as Weavershead House. <1>
