Full Description

A picturesque fish pond / mill pond adjacent to Bourne Mill.

The full extent of the original pond is unknown. References to 'Bourne Ponds' date back to the 13th century. Probably a mill was situated here before the surviving fishing lodge (of c1591), attached to the lands of St John's Abbey. An artificial embankment to the east of the pond serves to retain the water <1>
