Full Description
Recorded by Colchester Archaeological Trust in November 2014 (number FLG 10 and 11), following decommission and before demolition of the south part (in advance of redevelopment, CBC planning application 131935) in 2015 (the north section, DCTA Q Block, which was the most intact, has been retained and converted to residential).
FLG 10/11 is located to the east side of the complex and is one of three long buildings which formerly served as wagon sheds in the Flagstaff complex (Q block extends to the north of FLG 10). The single storey building first appears on the 1921 edition Ordnance Survey but is believed to date to c.1903. It is aligned N to S and is constructed from yellow stock bricks with dimensions of 230 x 110 x 65mm laid in English bond with a gabled slate roof. The building has been substantially altered with the walls and roof raised in second phase of building dating to the mid 20th century, probably to accommodate military lorries.<1><2>
This building (along with Q Block to the north) is locally-listed: http://www.colchesterhistoricbuildingsforum.org.uk/drupal/node/1511 [accessed 13/07/17]
