Element record MCC3090 - A medieval pit at Park Road, Lexden

Summary

Excavations on land to the south of Park Road, Lexden, in 2014identified a (probable) medieval pit. The pit was close to two Roman cremations located in Area 1 (MCC3089).

Full Description

Pit [208] measured 1m long x 0.23m deep. Located in Area 1, it was partially obscured by the edge of excavation and in between the two pits containing cremated bone fragments. However upon investigation, this pit yielded a fragment of late medieval tile (57g) and a fragment of residual Roman tile (67g) and was not thought to relate to the Roman activity.<1>
