Mid 16th century house

RCHME survey of 26 East Street. House 'was built probably in the middle of the 16th century. The upper storey projects in front and has an early 18th century modillioned eaves-cornice' <1>

DOE survey of No's 26 & 27 East Street. Grade II. Mid C16, 2 storey and attics, 2 modern gabled dormers, timber-framed and plastered, the roofs tiled. Modern to No 26. On the front there is an early C18 wood modillioned eaves cornice. Modern neo-Tudor 3 light diamond lattice casement windows. The upper storey projects. Six panel door with moulded architrave. <2>
