Summary

A narrow undated ditch aligned northeast/south-west was defined in a trial-trenched evaluation in 2015. No finds were recovered from this feature, and it was very shallow (with a depth of 120mm at its deepest). Very little can be said about this ditch, but the most likely interpretation would be a prehistoric landscape feature.

Full Description

Five 15m-long x 1.8m wide trenches (a 5% sample) were excavated on land north of Gosbecks Archaeological Park, in response to a planning application for the proposed development of the site, comprising the construction of five bungalows and garages, with associated parking and access (CBC Planning Ref: 150478). <1>
A narrow 270mm wide ditch aligned northeast/south-west in T4 (F13). No finds were recovered from this feature, and it was very shallow (with a depth of 120mm at its deepest). Very little can be said about this ditch, but the most likely interpretation would be a prehistoric landscape feature.
