Full Description

A linear slot and three stake-holes were excavated which appear to be the remains of a stake and panel fence line. The alignment of the fence occures at around 45 degrees to the layout of the Roman features associated with both the early fort and the later town plan. This fence may represent a temporary internal division but the sequential position of the features and apparent lack of associated floor layers suggests a possible pre-Roman date.<1>
