Full Description
A shallow wall foundation (F1) 450mm wide was exposed, aligned N to S, constructed of peg-tile laid flat into a 100mm-thick mortar sub-base. One piece of Roman wall plaster had been incorporated into the fabric. This room occupies what was the western end of the 14th century open hall building and is likely to have been a plinth of a medieval timber wall, dividing the high end of the open hall from a parlour cross-wing.<1>
