Full Description

A rectangular grave-like cut was uncovered, partly outside the extent of the evaluation trench, which after further excavation was confirmed to be an inhumation burial. Little bone remained, although 14 iron coffin nails were recorded around the edge of the grave cut and a sizable quantity of Roman pottery was retrieved, the date range for which is from the early-mid 2nd century to as late as late 3rd or 4th century.

Other evidence from the site suggested there may also have been Roman cremation burials on the site. <1>
