Full Description

An oval cut containing lead coffin liner with iron nails. This grave lies next to MON1077, the possible mausoleum, although the relationship between the two features is unclear. The coffin liner probably contains an inhumation, which is likely to be a child as the width of the liner is only 320mm. The length of the coffin liner could not be established. Large iron nails surrounding it indicate a possible wooden outer coffin and an upright piece of Roman brick at the top of the cut may have formed part of a grave marker. <1>
