Full Description

Two definite and two probable Roman urned cremation burials were disturbed during the groundworks at Merly House in 2004 (the others are ELM1411-1413).

A disturbed cremation burial was found in one of the trenches dividing the kitchen extension and the swimming pool enclosure. A collection of Roman pottery sherds were recovered, including amphora and flagon sherds. Cremated bone was also recovered, although no grave cut could be seen. <1>
