Full Description
Excavated evidence suggested that the field boundaries that can be securely dated to the Late Iron Age/early Roman period in fact were Early Iron in origin. This is supported by the positioning of the EIA cremation burials (ELM1400 -1) and the finds that pre-date the Late Iron Age period (FND356-7). It is possible that the boundary ditches have been recut too many times to be distinctly dated to the EIA period, or that the original boundaries were defined by hedges, traces of which are not clear archaeologically. <1>
