Full Description
One of five inhumation burials of Roman date were excavated in Area 6 parallel with the western boundary of one of the Roman fields. This was one of two child-sized graves (the other is EVT1398), no bone material survives. The wood of the coffins was not identifiable but was probably oak. Iron nails from the coffins remained. There were no grave goods and the burials were only dateable by occasional sherds of Roman pottery in the grave fills. <1>
