Full Description

In the north-west corner of the site there was a large group of Middle Iron Age sherds located (24 sherds), which was the largest group of Middle Iron Age pottery found on the site. This is unlikely to be rubbish disposal and has been deliberately buried so it has been interpreted as a placed deposit.

It is not close to a boundary or field ditch and its precise purpose remains unclear. Overall though there was a greater density of Middle Iron Age residual sherds in the western area (of Area 6) which may indicate evidence of a settlement to the west. <1>
