Full Description

One of seven inhumation burials (CF69, CF75, CF91, CF96, CF97, CF99 and CF100) excavated at the site to the north of Gosbecks in 1995-6. In total, seven graves were located positioned immediately to the east of the boundary ditch (MCC2893), six of which were aligned (in a row) along the east side of the ditch, giving them an approximately N to S orientation. The final burial (CF100) at the north end of the row of graves was orientated approximately E to W.

All the burials had been contained in coffins and three were accompanied by grave goods dating broadly to the 2nd-4th centuries. Almost no bone survived due to the acidic soil conditions.<1>
