Full Description

One of four Roman inhumation burials (see also MCC2889, MCC2890 and MCC2891) uncovered in 2001 at the Topfield site, Rawstorn Road. All four features were shallow and were covered by at least 1m of topsoil containing residual Roman pottery. These burials are thought to be part of the Roman cemetery at the adjacent St Mary's Hospital site. <1><2><3>

There may have been a second, later, inhumation with burial F4 (see MCC2889) as there were too many bones for one inhumation.
