Summary

The remains of the outer cavea wall foundation and robbed-out wall lines of the spina from the Roman Circus were discovered during a watching brief in 2006 during the replacement of electricity cables supplying floodlights to the Abbey Field sports pitches.

Full Description

Three of the features uncovered were associated with the Roman Circus; the in situ remains of the southern outer cavea wall foundation and the robbed-out wall lines of the central barrier or Spina.<1>
