Full Description

A Roman building of late 1st century date (CAT Building 190) that was enlarged in the early 2nd century (CAT Building 191, MCC2722). The building had only one identified wall line. A hard unmortared gravel and septaria footing may have held a plinth or timber upper wall. Patches of clay floors were identified and a fragment of thin Purbeck marble veneer and a small amount of white painted wall plaster suggest a high class finish to the building.<1>
