Full Description

In 1931 excavation on footpath on the north side of the road at Lexden Hill revealed a stirrup, some trace hooks and some iron studs from a wagon wheel, at a point just opposite the 'Lindens' where the Parliamentary defence line crossed the main road. <1> (Although seems unlikely that the siege line crossed Lexden Road so far west at the foot of a hill)
