Full Description
Finds from an evaluation south of the Victoria Inn included Roman brick and tile, some of which was re-used material. Box tile from a hypocaust was recorded. One box tile fragment had been stamped using a die from London or Canterbury. The roof tile is datable to 2nd century although one roof tile is of probable 1st century date. Coloured wall plaster was recovered. A small amount of Medieval pottery was recovered which may have been deposited during medieval robbing activity. <1>
