Full Description

In 1927 remains were found along North Station Road. A rubble and cement foundation lay about 12ft. from the west building-line at a depth of about 3ft. When a petrol tank was sunk in Messrs Orfeur's yard, 100ft. from the street front, part of a pavement with geometrical design in black and white was found 6ft below the surface. The mortar bed was red.<1> The pavement was destroyed.<2>
