King Coel's Pump or Town Well located next to St Peters Church on corner of High Street & North Hill.
Reference to town well in 1562, St Dennis's fair said to extend from East gate as far as the town well., presumably the later King Coel's pump that stood on the junction of High Street and North Hill.<1>
King Coel's pump near the exchange in the High Street was a brightly decorated landmark in the 18th century.<2>
King Coel's Well at the junction of High Street and North Hill was the original town well serving the centre of Colchester until the late 17th century.<3>
