Full Description

A watching brief was held during the construction of a new building for the accounts branch at the Post Office. Trenches dug by the contractor revealed a north-south military plinth of standard type, areas of tessellated pavement, three robber trenches (including one for the plinth), a foundation sealed by part of a tessellated pavement, and an early Roman pit.<1>
