Early reference to 'North Street' in 1196 now North Hill & North Station Road.<1><2>

Main north south road linking North Gate with High Street, and aligned with Head Gate. Based on Roman Street alignment which no doubt continued in use in some form after Roman period, as it linked Head Gate and North Gate.
