Full Description

RCHME Survey of The Gables, East Stockwell Street. 17th Century, has a projecting upper storey at the W end. Inside the building the wall running N and S on the W of the staircase is of rubble. <1>

DOE survey of No 7 East Stockwell Street (The Gables). Grade II. C17 with later alterations and additions. Two storeys and attics, timber-framed and plastered, the roofs tiled. Gable at the west end and projecting upper storey on this front. C18 double hung sashes with glazing bars in cased frames. South side has C18 door case with flat hood, scroll brackets, fanlight. <2>

The present building contains a north-south rubble wall and is likely therefore to be on the site of another example of a medieval stone house <3>
