Full Description

Fort Rainsborough, Parliamentarian siege fort of 1648. Located on the north side of River Colne, north of Middle Mill, the exact location is not known. The Fort is shown on the siege map of 1648.<1> It is square with bastions at NE and NW corners, flankers at SE and SW corners with a salient on the south side.<2>
