Full Description

A trench for a cable, cut to no great depth, in the pavement on the south side of Culver Street, due north of the nave of Trinity Church, was cut through the strong gravel metalling of the Roman Street. The surface was of large pebbles, such as some might term cobbles. The width observed was 18-20ft, but a deeper excavation would probably have made it greater on account of the camber. (Some time later the line was observed in a similar fashion on the other side of the pavement, Hull gives no dates for this records).<1>
