Full Description

A Roman gravelled path or footway discovered during excavations by C.A. Winkles in 1939 and earlier. The path was situated to the east of a north-south street (MCC760) at a depth of 5ft. which corresponds with the general levels of adjacent building remains to the east. Hull notes, 'this path may be part of the same street or of the house' and that the area of metalling discovered in Mr Frost's garden in 1920 (see ECC956) may have been part of the path ' and not the street at all'.<1><2>
