RCHME survey of 20-22 W Stockwell Street. 'The upper storey projects and is gabled in the middle and W bays of the S front'.<1>

DOE survey of No 19, No's 20 & 21 West Stockwell Street. Grade II. No's 19, 20 and 21 form C17 building. Two storeys, timber-framed and plastered, tiled roofs. Two gabled on the front with projecting upper storey. Gabled dormer to No 19. C18 and later fenestration. A Picturesque group, closing the view of the street from the south.<2>

During restoration of No.21 West Stockwell Street, Colchester, by the Colchester Corporation direct labour force, under the Dutch Quarter Preservation Scheme, work men made a number of discoveries including an arched wall cavity which was considered as a possible priest hole, unusual timber work supporting the east bay and the original daub.<3>
