Full Description

During excavations at the NCP car park site on North Hill in 1965 (ECC949) several sherds of hand-made, Anglo-Saxon pottery were discovered in a small pit dug into the corridor of a late Roman building (MCC2060). The fabric of all sherds was very similar - grey with rough gritty surfaces. They probably date from the 6th to 8th centuries.<1>
