Full Description

During excavations in the grounds of the sixth form college in 1951 (ECC933), several Roman gullies were discovered. Two of the gullies lay beneath the town wall rampart (MCC1170) but ran parallel to the town walls (MCC859). At a later date a deep gully with almost vertical sides was dug into the levels of the rampart and then filed in almost immediately and buried under the upper levels of the bank.<1>
