Full Description
A Roman building identified during excavations at 7-15 Long Wyre Street, 1979. Little of this building survived within the area of the excavation because the foundations had been robbed in the mid 2nd century. The one surviving fragment showed the foundation to have been septaria and ragstone rubble set in opus signinum. Parts of the two rooms were uncovered. Room 1 had a floor of sandy-clay and a hearth built of brick fragments and set against the middle of the southern wall. Room 2 contained a plain mortar floor.<1>
