Full Description

The conversion of a former dwelling house, No 70 High Street, revealed a medieval well in the cellar abutting on High Street (almost opposite the Holly Trees Museum) TL99972523. The construction of the well is of stone but the top had been closed by a dome of brick, apparently when the house was rebuilt in the 17th century. Photographs were taken by John A. Gill of Messrs Page, Ward and Dakin, but have not been traced.<1>
