Full Description

Jarmin records ' A mass of Roman masonry was found opposite the main entrance to the Bull Hotel, at a depth of about 8ft. It had been broken up in places and cut through by the older sewer. More was now revealed, some in situ. One mass of square red tiles in courses, set in red mortar, and a few yards further on were masses of septaria set in ordinary white mortar'. <1><2>
