Full Description

A pavement of red tesserae was found on Lord's Land a few yards from the eastern entrance. Wire records, 'It was broken up before I saw it, but from the foundations, composed of septaria and fragments of Roman bricks and the mortar adhering to them being chiefly sand, with a small quantity of lime as a binding, I was led to the conclusion it was not very early.'<1>
