Full Description

Laver notes in his diary that in 1929, opposite the lane by the Victoria Inn the trench cut through another wall, very diagonal, so that it appeared to be 7ft wide, Laver estimated its real thickness as about 2ft 4". He also records that a Roman pavement had been found under the modern path and street opposite the Victoria Inn, and shows the area of this covering the end of the lane and extending about the width of the lane further, both north and south of it.<1><2><3>
