Full Description

The WWII map (a copy is held in Mersea Museum) showing the location of bombs and aircraft crash sites has the site of an RAF plane on the south side of East Road, West Mersea, TM 02568 13459. A letter written by a local and dated 22/12/42 (a copy of the letter is also held in the Museum) describes the incident, recording that the plane was a Mosquito and that the two (?Polish) airmen were both killed in the crash.
