Full Description

16th or 17th century brick-lined cellar, based on the bricks showing in the cellar wall, below 11 Head Street. The building above it probably dated to c.1835 and therefore the cellar must belond to the previous building which was pulled down as a result of fire damage in 1834. A watching brief was carried out on the lowering of the cellar (by 600mm) at the front (east end), and the wall was shown to be made up of unfrogged 'Tudor' bricks. The natural was reached at 400mm below the cellar floor.<1>
