Full Description

Four large post-medieval, 16th-18th century, post-holes (possibly for garden pillars – F39-F42) were excavated in a row, aligned E to W, across the centre of Plot 1. A medieval/post-medieval pit (F22) and a post-medieval/modern pit (F29) were excavated in Plot 2. In Plot 3, Medieval/post-medieval features included four small pits (F60, F62, F63, F67) and a large pit (F59, including postholes F65-F66), which extended across the entire width of the plot (8.0m). Another large pit (F64), at least 1.2m deep and which extended across the entire width of the plot (13.5m), was of a post-medieval date.<1>
