Full Description
A small pit F150 containing a small sherd (3g) with a date range of Neolithic to Early Iron Age and another F152, 4.50m to the north, containing a sherd (8g)of ?Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pottery were recorded in T5 during 2010 evaluation (and 2011 Site C excavation) in advance of the redevelopment of the former Meeanee & Hyderabad Barracks, Mersea Road. In addition, pit CF05 was cut by undated but probably Roman pit CF25, and may therefore also be prehistoric (or early Roman).<1>
Note that F152 (CF6) was part of the pit alignment on the north side of a Roman ditch (see MCC10076).
