Full Description

In May 1928 a pit for cables was sunk in Trinity Street opposite the north end of Potter's premises (next south of Marshall, solicitor). The end of a rubble wall projected into it from the west, about 2ft below the surface, and 18" thick, lying on made soil. The pit was carried down to 6ft, where it was approaching original ground level. All along the bottom, on the east side, ran remains of a Roman wall, its top about 6ft from the surface.<1><2>
