Description
RCHME survey of the Cock and Pye Inn (55 and 56 North Hill). The house is half H shaped plan with wings extending towards the W. The NW wing is probably of 15th or early 16th century date with a 17th century extension on the W. The SW wing, extending to the street, was built late in the 16th century. The rest of the building was rebuilt and the whole refronted in the 18th century. The upper storey projects on the N side of the original NW wing and on part of the N side of the SW wing; on the first floor of the latter is the moulded sill of a projecting 16th century window with two shaped brackets.<1>
