Description

Survey by RCHME of 11 High Street- 'Partly of two and partly of three storeys; the walls are timber-framed but the house has a late 18th century front of brick. The house was built in the 17th century and at the back is a wing of c.1700 forming practically a separate building. The back gable of the main block has original moulded barge-boards. The detached wing has on the South side a modillioned eaves-cornice and inside is a complete panelled room of c.1700 with bolection moulding and a dentilled cornice; all the panels have rough paintings of architecture or landscape. The fireplace in the W. wall has a panelled overmantel flanked by pilasters carved with conventional foliage. Condition -Good'.<1>
