Description

Laver's diary records that in 1923 a trench for a drain was cut in Queens Road which revealed a portion of an old bank which formerly bounded the fields on the South of the present road, he states 'it will be noticed that the bank sinks deeply to the north showing remains of ditch on south side of the Roman Road from top of Westlodge Road to Balkerne Hill'.<1>
