Description
DOE survey of No 3 Head Street (Headgate Court). Grade II*. Formerly the Assembly Room, King's Head Inn, standing back from the street in a courtyard. C16-C17 building, 2 storeys, attics and cellars, timber framed and plastered, the roofs tiled. Good late C17 front, 6 window range of double hung sashes with glazing bars (original in upper storey). Central wood door case with flat head and fluted pilasters, rectangular fanlight. Base of chimney stack at north end is original. Wing on north side of courtyard of same date. Interior has some original ceiling beams and panelling. <1>
