Description
Observation of test-pitting and auguring within the Great Hall and Sitting Room of Altyre House to determine the extent of Kerosene contamination caused by a leak from the feed line to the boiler. A CAT archaeologist supervised the excavation of 10 test-pits and auger holes in the floors of the Grand Hall and the Sitting Room. The test pits were excavated to a depth of between 0.2-0.45m and then augered down a further 0.55-1.77m.
No significant archaeological remains were encountered, and there were no finds.
